Klara Foster, Founder

As a holistic aesthetician, Klara's hope is that Beautiful Mama is a sanctuary for moms to care for their body from the inside out. She is dedicated to helping both pregnant women and moms find their way to feeling "beautiful" again, to find their strength and vigor, and to reconnect with their inner selves, which often gets lost once there is a family to care for.

Klara feels that a spa with child care services is a great way to help mothers take care of themselves, enjoy some alone time or time with friends, without having to worry about finding a sitter, which can sometimes be stressful.

Although Klara is a formally trained aesthetician and aromatherapist, her fascination and love of spas is a thread that connects many of her life's adventures extending back to her teenage years.

Born in 1970 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Klara turned to books about ancient Rome in her early teens. From there she fell in love with the roman bath idea, started to regularly visit bathhouses and became hooked on the idea of going to a sauna once a week with her friends.

After the birth of her second child in 1996, Klara moved to South Korea to be with her husband who was teaching English at that time. Life in Seoul with two small children was extremely difficult. However daily visits to the gym and several weekly visits to the Korean bathhouses helped her get through that challenging period. The calmness and stillness of the surroundings, sauna and hydrotherapy brought Klara tremendous happiness and inspiration. Her regular treatments included body wraps and facials that incorporated raw fresh fruits and vegetables.

While in Asia, Klara also had the opportunity to spend a few months in The Philippines with her children, where she lived on a beach and learned to cook fish while enjoying many of their local spas. It's no wonder that Klara returned to Canada in 1998 with a dream of starting her own aesthetics business!

A few years later she was an honours graduate of the Luba Mera School of Aesthetics, working at the Rosewater Spa in Oakville... and remarried!

With two months to go until she delivered her third child, Klara flew to Provence to pursue her studies at an Aromatherapy retreat with Dr Peneole in June 2005. A fellow attendee in that group was Eve Taylor, world-renowned aromatherapy expert!

Klara gave birth to four boys in a span of as many years, for a total of six children. Her last four pregnancies were very close together and her body was under a lot of stress - physically and emotionally. To deal with all the challenges of postpartum depression, pregnancy weight gain and the severe eczema of her small children, Klara turned to naturopathic and Chinese medicine, where she learned a lot about the workings of the human body and alternative methods of healing.

In 2010 Klara "gave birth" to a different baby in Burlington, Ontario - her very own spa for women - Beautiful Mama. With all of her experience as a mother, her vision is clear. She loves her career as an aesthetician - and more importantly as a guide for women on their journey of self-care throughout Motherhood.
